Our vision: "Going above and beyond to create the best travel experiences."
Our mission: "With the best people and lowest costs, we enable more people to travel…WELL!"
We took off in 2003 when Discovery Americas I and Columbia Equity Partners investment funds joined forces with TACA Airlines to integrate a new Mexican ultra low-cost airline that would offer the experience of flying to a larger number of Mexicans.
We sailed the sky for the first time on March 13, 2006 with an inaugural Toluca – Tijuana flight. On July 12 of the same year, the World Bank, through its financial arm in Latin America, awarded us funding of $40 million, which in turn consolidated investment of $130 million.
Currently, our ownership structure is comprised of a diverse group of Mexican and foreign partners, as well as a public portion where our filial Controladora Vuela Compañía de Aviación, S.A.B. de C.V. is listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) under the ticker symbol "VOLAR" and on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker symbol "VLRS".
We have the youngest aircraft fleet in Mexico, with an average age of 4 years. On October 30, 2014, our fleet consisted of 68 Airbus A319s, A320s and A320 Neo. Currently we have flights to Mexico and the United States.
We fly to more than 60 cities in Mexico, the United States, Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador and Puerto Rico. We offer more than 200 daily flights on routes connecting cities in Mexico and cities in the United States.
Volaris has Mexico's youngest fleet, made up of aircrafts averaging 4 years in service from the Airbus A319, A320 and A321 families. Our 69 aircrafts are equipped with the latest technology, providing leather seating and greater leg room. For our Clients' comfort, they are all operated by a highly trained and experienced team.
Since 2013 we have received aircrafts with the latest eco-efficient, technology, incorporating at the ends of its wings aerodynamic devices called Sharklets that reduce CO2 emissions by about 1,000 tons annually, thus minimizing any environmental impact.
The company IAE International Aero Engines AG awarded us with the Pure-V designation, for currently using V2500® engines on all our A32ceo planes. Volaris is the first Mexican airline to operate PurePower engines fabricated by Pratt & Whitney for A320Neos.
Helping to improve the environment with its great fuel savings, our Airbus A320Neo allows us to operate routes with a smaller environmental impact and with more efficiency, thus achieving one of the main goals of Volaris: making more people fly at the best fares they can find.
