We created this guide to answer the most asked questions about your baggage when traveling with Volaris. Enjoy your flight!

Check your baggage allowance

Baggage allowance for flights in Mexico

We have three options: Zero, Basic, and Plus, so you can fly with the baggage you need.

Zero

Travel at our lowest price

This preferential option includes the following:

■ 1 personal item (must fit under the seat in front of you)
Example: handbag, briefcase, laptop bag

■ v.club benefits:

- Get a $500 MXN voucher for your next purchase

- Up to 20% discount on your next booking

 

A carry-on bag is not included.

Basic

Best value

This preferential fare includes:

■ 1 personal item (must fit under the seat in front of you)
E.g. handbag, briefcase, laptop bag

■ 1 carry-on bag that measures 22 x 16 x 10 in (length x width x height)

The combined weight of the personal item and carry-on bag must not exceed 33 lb.

Personal item

What is a personal item?

A personal item may be, for example, a backpack, handbag, briefcase, or laptop bag, that fits under the seat in front of you.

Carry-on

What is a carry-on baggage?

The carry-on baggage is calculated equally for domestic and international flights. It is counted per piece and must not exceed the following measures 22 x 16 x 10 in (length x width x height). It may be a bag with or without wheels. Not all options include carry-on baggage. We recommend you check your reservation to avoid inconveniences or unexpected expenses at the airport.

Checked bag

What is a checked bag?

Checked bags are those that travel in the aircraft cargo hold. You must check them in at our airport counters 2 hours before departure for domestic flights and 3 hours for international flights.

Extra baggage

Carry-on baggage

On domestic and international flights, only with the Zero option, you may add one carry-on baggage to your reservation measuring 22 x 16 x 10 in (length x width x height). The combined personal item and carry-on bag weight must not exceed 44 lbs.

We recommend you add extra carry-on baggage to your reservation when purchasing your flights to avoid unexpected expenses at the airport. Plan and save!

Checked baggage

For an additional fee, you may take up a total of 5 checked bags of no more than 55 lbs and 62 total in (length + width + height) each.

If your baggage exceeds the maximum allowance, a fee will apply. The maximum permitted for overweight baggage is 99 lbs.

If you paid for an extra bag and would like to check in a sports item in its place, you can do so at no additional cost as long as it does not exceed 55 lbs and 62 total inches. If you exceed the maximum allowance, an additional charge applies. To get more benefits, you can also add the sports equipment service.
