Travel documents and COVID-19 requirements

Before you take off, get ready the right way. Here, you will find the latest information on travel documents, COVID-19 requirements, and restrictions.

Travel requirements by country

Below you may find information about the required documents depending on your destination.

Flights within Mexico

Mexicans must present a valid and original photo ID (photocopied and digital documents are not accepted)

Foreigners must present a valid and original photo ID (photocopied and digital documents are not accepted)

Flights to Mexico

All passengers must present a valid passport and visa if applicable.

Foreigners must also present the Multiple Immigration Form, a.k.a tourist card or tourist permit, and your return ticket. We recommend you carry printed proof of your stay in Mexico. 

 

Important information for Venezuelan citizens

You must present a valid visa and proof of your return ticket.

 

Important information for Colombian citizens

You must fill out an electronic precheck with personal and immigration information to enter Mexico.

After completing your precheck, the system will send you a QR code and the FFM form to your email. You must save both documents, print and present them at the airport of origin.

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months.

 

DNR Payment

If you are a foreigner, remember that you must pay the DNR tax or Right of Visitor without permission to undertake lucrative activities or paid employment, as requested by the Mexican government.

If you are Mexican living abroad, you may present any of the following Mexican accreditation documents to be exempt from paying the DNR:

■ Citizen identification card
■ Certified copy of your birth certificate
■ Consular registration
■ Letter of naturalization
■ Certificate of Mexican nationality
■ INE

Only vaccines approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) or the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) will be accepted.

Your last dose must have been given a full 14 days before the day you board your flight to the United States.

For example, if your last dose was any time on October 1st, then October 15th would be the first day that you meet the 14-day requirement.

 

Acceptable proof of COVID-19 vaccination

All forms of proof of vaccination must have:

■ The passenger's name and date of birth (must match the ID: passport, visa, or green card)

■ Name of official source issuing the record (e.g., public health agency, government agency, or another authorized vaccine provider)

■ Vaccine manufacturer and date(s) of vaccination

 

When are you fully vaccinated?

A person is considered fully vaccinated after their second dose in a two-dose series or after the single-dose J&J/Janssen or CanSinoBIO vaccine.

You are also considered fully vaccinated after receiving two doses of any “mix-and-match” combination of accepted COVID-19 vaccines. The first and second doses must have been administered at least 17 days apart.

Exceptions to the proof of vaccination requirement

Categories of noncitizen nonimmigrants that meet the criteria for an exception:

■ Children under 18 (are required to show a negative RT-PCR or antigen test result)

■ Participants in certain COVID-19 vaccine trials

■ Persons with documented medical contraindications to receiving a COVID-19 vaccine

■ Persons issued a humanitarian or emergency exception

Attestation

All foreign passengers 2 years or older must fill out the online attestation and capture a screenshot of the confirmation page.

For passengers between 2 and 17 years old, their parents or guardians must fill out the attestation.

Foreigners under 18 are not required o show a negative test result or proof of vaccination in any case.

Citizens

Important information for Venezuelan citizens

You must present a valid visa and your return ticket to enter the country.

Important information for Colombian, Nicaraguan, and Cuban citizens

You must provide the following:

■ Colombians and Nicaraguans: a passport with a minimum validity of 3 months.

■ Cubans: a passport with a minimum validity of 6 months.

■ Consular visa

■ Return ticket

Connecting flights: citizens of Venezuela, Colombia, Nicaragua, and Cuba with connecting flights in Costa Rica must present a transit visa.

Important information for Guatemalan and Honduran citizens

You must present a passport with a minimum validity of 3 months.

 

COVID-19 requirements to enter Costa Rica

Only foreign passengers 2 years of age or older arriving from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau or that have been in any of those countries in the last 14 days must provide the following:

■ A negative COVID-19 laboratory test result (PCR or antigen) taken no more than 72 hours before the flight departure. The document must be in Spanish or English.

■ Proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (applies for passengers older than 12)

Connecting flights

Customers on connecting flights must meet the entry requirements of Costa Rica and the final destination country.

Citizens

■ Valid passport (at least six months of validity)

■ Visa (depending on your nationality)

COVID-19 requirements to enter Guatemala

All customers:

■ COVID-19 vaccination proof: not required

■ COVID-19 negative test result: not required

Documents required to enter Colombia

Colombians and residents

■ Valid passport

■ Residency (if it applies)

■ Check-Mig form. You must fill out the online form between 48 hours and 1 hour before your flight and present the confirmation email to the customs officer.

Foreigners

■ Valid passport (minimum validity of 90 days)

■ Check-Mig form. You must fill out the online form between 48 hours and 1 hour before your flight and present the confirmation email to the customs officer.

■ Return ticket (preferably airline ticket)

■ Visa (depending on your nationality)

Mexicans, U.S. citizens, Costa Ricans, Salvadorans, Guatemalans, and Venezuelans do not need a visa.

COVID-19 requirements to enter Colombia

All passengers 18 years of age and older must comply with the following entry requirements:

The PCR test result must be taken no more than 72 hours before travel.

The antigen test result must be taken no more than 48 hours before travel.

Children under 18 do not need to present a vaccination certificate or negative test.

Acceptable proof of COVID-19 vaccination

The vaccination card or certificate may be printed or digital, and it must have:

■ First and last name
■ Type and number of ID
■ Date of vaccination
■ Name of the vaccine or its manufacturer
■ Number of doses received

 

Accepted vaccines

Vaccines approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) or any country or territory recognized by the UN will be accepted. These include:

■ Johnson & Johnson
■ Pfizer-BioNTech
■ Moderna
■ Astra Zeneca
■ Sinopharm
■ Sinovac/Coronavac
■ Covaxin
■ Sputnik V
■ CanSino

Documents required to enter Honduras

All passengers, including Honduran citizens, must present a valid passport.

 

COVID-19 requirements to enter Honduras

Negative test:

All passengers must present a negative RT-PCR, antigen, or ELISA test result, taken within 72 hours before the flight departure.

Rapid antibody tests are not accepted.

Also, they must fill out the Epidemiological Surveillance and Health Attestation Form and present a screenshot of the form id number.

Exceptions:

If you have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, you may present an original vaccination certificate or record card instead of a negative test result. The last shot must have been administered at least 14 days before the travel date.

Immigration form:

All passengers must fill out the pre-check form online.

Documents required to enter Peru

Peruvians and residents

■  Valid Passport*
■  Valid residency (if it applies)

*Peruvian citizens may present an expired passport to enter the country 

 

Foreign tourists

Passport (it must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the return date)
■ Valid visa (if it applies). See the nationalities that require a visa

 

Citizens of South American countries

Citizens of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia, and Chile may present their national identification document or card to enter Peru.

Minors from Colombia may show their identification card.

 

COVID-19 requirements to enter Peru

All customers:

■ COVID-19 vaccination proof: not required

■ COVID-19 negative test result: not required

Face mask

Use of a face mask on board

Wearing a face mask on board is optional for passengers traveling in Mexico, the United States, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Peru. However, take it with you if you travel to Honduras and Colombia. It is still mandatory in these countries.

If you present COVID-19 or flu symptoms during the flight, we recommend you wear a face mask.

We continue to carry out other biosecurity measures so you can travel safely:

  • All our aircraft have HEPA filters, which recycle 100% of the air in the cabin every three minutes and remove 99.9% of viruses and bacteria

  • We carry out deep cleaning of the cabin before each flight and disinfect every surface inside the aircraft with industrial-grade cleaning products.

  • We disembark the plane in a controlled manner by row to guarantee a healthy distance.
