Traveling to Mexico?

All passengers must present a valid passport (valid for the entire duration of their stay) and, when applicable, a visa (including passengers connecting or transiting through the country). Check the list of countries whose citizens require a visa to enter Mexico.

If you are a foreign national, you must also present the Multiple Immigration Form, commonly known as a tourist card or tourist permit, as well as your outbound ticket, preferably for air travel. We recommend carrying printed copies of the documents required to support the purpose and duration of your stay in Mexico.

Get informed before you travel and enjoy a smoother arrival in Mexico.

You must present:

■ valid visa

■ return ticket

in accordance with the latest regulations established by the Mexican government.

You must complete an online pre-registration form with your personal and immigration information in order to enter Mexico.

Once you complete your registration, the system will generate a confirmation document with a QR code and send the FMM form to your email. You must save both documents, print them, and present them at your departure airport.

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months.

As of May 6, 2024, all Peruvian citizens must present a Mexican visa to enter the country.

Passengers who hold any of the following documents are exempt:

1. A valid visa* or permanent residence permit from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Japan, a country within the Schengen Area, or a member country of the Pacific Alliance.

*The visa must remain valid throughout your stay in Mexico.

2. An APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) approved by Mexico.

Who is exempt from paying the DNR?

The Non-Resident Fee (DNR) will not be charged to Customers who present any of the following valid documents:

■ Mexican passport.

■ Temporary or permanent Mexican residency document.

Important

These are the only valid documents accepted as proof of exemption from the DNR.

If you enter Mexico by air, you must present the same identification document you used when checking in for your flight.

Additionally, in accordance with Article 12 of the Mexican Nationality Law, Mexican citizens by birth must enter or leave Mexico identifying themselves as Mexican citizens, even if they hold another nationality.

This applies to Customers entering, transiting through, or making a connection in Mexico.

Mexican minors or minor residents traveling alone or with a third party must present either of the following documents to leave the country:

A notarized authorization from both parents or from the person(s) exercising parental authority or legal guardianship over the minor. The document must specify the means of transportation, destination, and travel date.

■ If the document was issued abroad, it must include the corresponding apostille and a Spanish translation.
■ In both cases, the original document and two copies are required.

The Minor Departure Form (SAM), available through the official website of Mexico’s National Institute of Migration (INM). The process consists of the following steps:

1. Complete the online form and verify that all information is correct.
2. You will receive a confirmation email with your receipt and a link to make the corresponding payment.
3. Visit your nearest INM office in advance with the SAM Form and the following documentation:

■ Original and 3 copies of the minor’s passport
■ Original and 3 copies of the minor’s birth certificate
■ Original and 3 copies of the valid government-issued ID of the minor’s parent or legal guardian
■ If applicable, the accompanying person’s passport
■ Original and 1 copy of the proof of payment

The Federal Immigration Officer will review the documentation and stamp the forms to make them officially valid. Please note that the minor will not be allowed to leave the country if the form has not been stamped.

Of the three copies of the SAM Form, one must be submitted to the Federal Immigration Officer, another to the airline, and the third must be kept as your proof of submission.

The SAM Form is issued individually for each minor and may be used for one trip only, including the return journey.

If the minor is traveling with both parents, one parent, their legal guardian, or the person exercising parental authority, neither a notarized authorization nor the SAM Form is required.

■ Valid passport
■ Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)

Identification and immigration documents required to travel to the United States:

■ Valid passport. It must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into the country.
■ Visa (except for travelers from countries participating in the Visa Waiver Program).

■ A return ticket.

■ Proof of sufficient financial means for the duration of your stay.

■ Proof of accommodation for the duration of your stay or the address where you will be staying.

■ Visa (only if required for your nationality).

Citizens of Mexico, the United States, El Salvador, and Guatemala may enter Costa Rica without a visa.

You must present:

■ A passport valid for at least three months
■ A consular visa
■ A return ticket

If you have a connecting flight in Costa Rica, you must present a transit visa.

You must present:

■ A passport valid for at least 3 months
■ A consular visa
■ Return ticket

Connecting flights: Colombian and Nicaraguan citizens with a connecting flight in Costa Rica must present a transit visa.

You must present:

■ A passport valid for at least six months
■ A consular visa
■ A return ticket

If you have a connecting flight in Costa Rica, you must present a transit visa.

You must present:

■ A passport valid for at least 3 months.

Identification and immigration documents required to travel to El Salvador:

■ A valid passport in good condition. It must be valid for more than six months from the date of entry into the country.

■ Visa (only if required for your nationality)

You do not need to complete a form. The process will be conducted through an interview upon arrival.

Citizens of Mexico, the United States, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Colombia may enter without a visa.

Citizens holding passports issued by Angola, Algeria, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Comoros, Ivory Coast, Chad, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, India, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Morocco, Mauritius, Mauritania, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Western Sahara, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Somaliland, South Africa, Sudan, South Sudan, Eswatini, Tanzania, Tunisia, Togo, Uganda, Djibouti, Zambia, and Zimbabwe who have a connecting flight in El Salvador must pay USD $1,000.00 + VAT before boarding their flight to El Salvador.

This charge corresponds to the Airport Improvement Fee at El Salvador International Airport “San Óscar Arnulfo Romero Galdámez,” as required by the Executive Autonomous Port Commission of El Salvador (CEPA).

Peruvian immigration authorities no longer stamp passports upon entry into or departure from the country. If you need to check or keep a record of your entry or departure, you can download the virtual form, which is generated automatically after you pass through immigration control.

■ Valid passport (valid for at least 90 days)

■ Check-Mig immigration form. It must be completed online between 48 hours and 1 hour before your flight. You must present the confirmation sent to you by email.

■ A ticket confirming your departure from the country, preferably by air
