CBX (Cross Border Xpress) is the service that allows you to cross the border between Tijuana and San Diego more quickly and safely.
All foreign passengers traveling more than 25 miles (approx. 40 km) from the border or staying more than 30 days in the United States will be required to prepay and complete their provisional I-94 permit before crossing through CBX. Learn more at crossborderxpress.com/en/I94
Go to our travel documents and requirements page to learn more.
It's now easier to use the CBX service thanks to our new TJX terminal. When choosing your flights, just select the TJX option in your destination or origin, as applicable, and you can use the bridge to cross the border between Tijuana and San Diego without needing to add an extra service fee.
You must show your boarding pass at one of the prepaid ticket counters to enter the bridge.
If you have already booked a flight from/to Tijuana and need to use the CBX service to cross the border, you can add this in My trips.
Enter your reservation code and the last name of any passenger included in the reservation, choose the Additional Services option in the menu, add CBX, and complete your purchase.
If you purchased the service separately, you must show the CBX confirmation code, and a boarding pass will be given to you at the service desks.
If you will be checking baggage
Go to the "Customers with pass" line to do the initial check-in. Afterward, bring your baggage to the counter located to your left after passing through Mexican customs, where Volaris staff member will be waiting for you.
If you will not be checking baggage
If you already have the QR code that CBX sent to your email, go through security to take your flight.
If you don't receive your QR code
Get your boarding pass in the app or print it at home. It will say "Cross Border Xpress" on it, which will grant you access.
Get your boarding pass from the kiosk and then make your way to the Volaris counters to get it stamped to be granted access.
Due to immigration issues, unaccompanied minors under the age of 12 cannot purchase this service. Customers between the ages of 13 and 18 traveling alone will need to purchase the Unaccompanied Teen service on the Cross Border Xpress website in order to cross the bridge.
If you travel with your checked pet, you must present yourself at Volaris counters in CBX with the required documents for its transportation.
If your flight is departing from Tijuana, you may use the CBX service up to 24 hours before your flight's departure.
If you purchase the add-on to cross from Tijuana to San Diego, you must use it within 2 hours of your flight's arrival.
The CBX entrance in Tijuana is located in the baggage claim area. If you leave this area, you will not be able to re-enter.
Add this service while booking your flight at www.volaris.com. You may also add it later, in the My trips section, or by contacting our Call Center.
If you need an invoice for the service, go to CBX's official website.

FAQs about CBX
If you have any other questions about the CBX service or how to use it with Volaris, please see our frequently asked questions.
Where can I return my form (I-94)?
After passing through the checkpoints at CBX, you will pass through the Duty Free. Then, after leaving the shop, you will see an open area with a "black box" where you can leave your I-94 form.
After pre-checking my baggage with Volaris, what do I have to do?
If you are a foreigner, you have to fill out the Official Entry Immigration Form (FMM) using the computers located at the far end of the corridor in the same terminal (to the side of the entry check) so that you can hand it to Mexican Immigration.
If I am only going to Mexico for 5 days, do I have to pay for a tourist permit?
No, only foreigners staying 6 days or longer must pay for the permit.
Is a passport required to use the CBX service?
If you are a foreigner, you must present a valid passport since you will be passing through Mexican Immigration.
Do minors also need a passport?
Yes, everyone who enters Mexico through CBX needs a valid passport (card or book), including infants (minors under 2 years old).
Is it possible to use CBX and cross with my pet?
Yes, but it should be in its carrier when you cross the bridge. Service dogs are the only exception. Likewise, you must comply with all the requirements and regulations from the Mexican and American authorities (for more information, consult the Fly with your Pet section).
The CBX terminal has an area for pets. Ask our CBX representatives to show you where it is.
If I bought my roundtrip CBX pass with Volaris, where can I pick it up?
CBX will send two emails with the QR codes to enter (one for each trip) to the address you registered during your booking process.
The subject of the emails you will receive will be "CBX Ticket Purchase completed".
